I was just reminded that it was two years ago that I drew this map of Gosport when a new art gallery (Yellow Edge) was opening in the town. There was a perception from visitors from Portsmouth that Gosport was “too far”, so I decided to show them that the gallery was a simple walk up the High Street.
I absolutely loved this project, I learnt about the history of maps, the symbols and ways it should be laid out. Then I honed my digital skills, hand drawing every element but then scanning and adding to a composite image that had dozens of layers – it was hard to keep track!
But I love the end result ,and I can’t believe I haven’t done another one!! I must rectify that sometime soon.
