Finding Peace

Contemplative photography at Portsmouth Cathedral

In 2016-17 I had the wonderful opportunity to exhibit my work at a solo exhibition at Portsmouth Cathedral. I spent months visiting the site regularly and taking hundreds of mindful, contemplative photographs for display. I also ran photography workshops funded by the Arts Council. In addition to the photographs, there were three other works:

‘Glimpses’ a large installation of layered printed fabric that gently moved and gave glimpses of the images below.

‘Liminal Man’ – a 5foot digital print

‘Being Present’ – award winning electronic, interactive digital art.

We live in a hectic world and sometimes it feels impossible to find any peace.   My photography exhibition at Portsmouth Cathedral aims to show how we can all find some peace in our minds.

“It looks fantastic – I am really pleased with it all and I love ‘Glimpses’ – it really captures the Cathedral well.  An absolute pleasure Ailsa, thank you for all the work you put into a first class exhibition”
