In March, I took myself off to Falmouth for a week. I’d never been before, and it felt somehow much further away than it really is. I went by train, which slowed everything down in a good way. No rushing, no driving, just watching the amazing landscape change.
Falmouth itself felt full of contrast, wide skies, shifting weather, soft sandy coves one moment and rugged, rocky edges the next. Some days were bright and calm, others stormy and wild. Standing at Pendennis Point with a near 360° view, whilst wind and rain battered my face was completely exhilarating. The kind of experience that makes you feel very small and very alive at the same time.
I spent a lot of time just walking and looking. Not trying to turn it into anything, just noticing.
It was also lovely to catch up with my old Peninsula Artists friend, Maggie, who moved there a few years ago. There’s a real sense of creative energy in Falmouth: galleries everywhere, an arty vibe, a feeling that making things is just part of life there.
I also took workshop with Laura Menzies, playing with inks on raw canvas. It was loose, playful, and a good reminder not to overthink everything.
I came back feeling recharged. Excited about what comes next.
